Sydney Groove is a new collaboration of some of Sydney's top musicians and performers. Collectively, its members have performed worldwide in a variety of top rated bands, theatre shows and corporate events, and boast over 20 years of experience on the Sydney party band scene.

Lana Nesnas

Lead Vocals / Percussion

Lana Nesnas is a stunning and versatile performer, from sultry songstress to leading lady in theatre, film and mainstream TV. She has understudied and played leading roles in musicals such as South Pacific (Theatre Royal, Sydney), the original tour of Dirty Dancing (Aus/NZ), Berlin - Cabaret of Desire (Silo Theatre, Auckland) and as Cinderella in Cinderella and Friends for DSF 2003, Dubai. Her screen credits include Channel 9's All Saints and Paul Barakat's epic short, Squalor for IFSS.  Turning heads with her powerhouse vocals and onstage charisma, Lana has performed as lead vocalist in various bands including international tribute band ABBASBACK (Frida), Heaven Can Wait, Experiment Street, Creedence and Beyond, and MO award nominated party band, the Family Von Trapp.  A WAAPA music theatre graduate, Lana can traverse genres with sophisticated ease. Her humour, presence and charm has captured the heart and attention of audiences worldwide.

Paul Winn

Vocals / Guitar

Paul grew up in a house full of music. His father was a guitarist in various bands and the family home was always full of musicians, instruments and bands rehearsing. Touring in a Kombi fitted to accommodate the family as well as band equipment, Paul spent many happy years watching his Dad on stage and sneaking up in the breaks to have a go himself. He performed in his first professional band at the age of eleven and throughout High School began playing guitar, singing and writing his own songs. Paul studied piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Jazz Studies) while pursuing voice training with several teachers that covered vocal styles from jazz to opera. Since graduating, Paul has performed with many bands, both covers and originals. He has recorded and self-produced 5 albums for the Paul Winn Band and continues to run his own successful, long-running party band, Hipnosis, which has enjoyed a successful career as one of Sydney premier corporate and party outfits for the last 15 years.

Emile Nelson

Vocals / Bass

From jazz to country to latin, fusion & pop to jazz funk, Emile has recorded and played all styles. At the age of 25, Emile was one of the 10 finalists in the worldwide bassplayer magazine's bass playing competition, the only finalist from Australia. After receiving his associate diploma in Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Emile furthered his studies and experience in New York. Emile has played and recorded with such diverse artists as Boney M, Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat,Communards) Christine Anu, Wendy Mathews, Vanessa Amorosi, Julian Lennon, Human Nature, Kate Cebrano, David Hasselhoff, Mig Ayesa, Marcia Hines, Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band), Mark Williams, Doug Parkinson, Australian Idol Band, Eurogliders, Patrizio Buanne, David Campbell, Jeff Duff, Don Burrows, James Muller Trio, Rocky Horror Show, Oh What a Night, Saturday Night fever, Shout, Bobby Rydell, Marty Rhone, Living with Amy, Galapagas Duck, Fiddlers Festival, John Rowles, Marina Prior, Chad Wackermann, Sister Sledge, George Washingmachine, Billy Field, Jackie Orczasky, Daryl Somers, Craig Mclachlan, Cosima Deveto, Tommy Ticho Orchestra, Jenny Teng, Faith Prince, John Paul Young, Russell Morris, John Foreman and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. He has also taught music at the Australian Institute of Music. In 1998, Emile released his debut album 'First Up', an original world music fusion project featuring 20 of Sydney's leading players.

Aaron Blakey

Piano / Saxophone / Trumpet

Originally from New Zealand, Aaron has spent the last few years living in Japan, where he worked as an active pianist on the Tokyo jazz scene. Aaron studied jazz in 2006 at Auckland University, under the tutelage of two of New Zealand's finest jazz pianists; Kevin Field & Steven Small. He has performed with the likes of Roger Manins, Jason Jones, Ron Samsom, Kevin Haines, Dixon Nacey, Tom Dennison, PJ Koopman, Tom Botting, Dan Ryland and many more of New Zealands top jazz musicians. At the beginning of 2011, Aaron moved to Sydney, where he finished his graduate study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Mike Nock. Over the years, Aaron has also had the opportunity to further his study of jazz with international artists such as Aaron Goldberg, Kevin Hays, Danny Grissett, John Escreet & Yuki Arimasa.

Jerry Vander

Vocals / Drums

Jerry has been involved in the entertainment industry since childhood, a legacy from his father Johan, a one-time member of Europe's legendary "Dutch Swing College Band". Based from Sydney, Jerry has performed all over Australia as well as Asia and the Middle East. His ability to interact totally with his audiences led him to DJ and Compere where his immediate popularity saw him working in major clubs alongside guest DJ/Comperes Ian "Molly" Meldrum, Richard Wilkins, Kylie Monogue, Red Symons to name a few. Jerry has appeared in many Television commercials for leading companies such as Coca-Cola, St George Bank and Vodafone. Jerry has an ongoing involvement as a vocalist with the Royal Australian Airforce and regards his recent tour of the Middle East, entertaining the Aussie troops one of his greatest career highlight.
